If you ordered a dollhouse kit recently, you will probably love to get started! It is a good time to get all the materials you need together, while waiting for your kit to arrive. The kit contains all the woods you need to build your dollhouse, but you need tools to assemble, paint, decorate the interior and add the necessary decorations.
You will want to organize workstations large enough to fit your dollhouse and some tools. Below is a list of all supplies that you think is necessary or necessary to build your doll house.
Equipment necessary for assembly
- o Adhesive: Most doll house parts are fixed with glue. It is recommended that you harden fairly fast, tend to sand, paint, wipe off, find the glue with good tip of the applicator. Please try Elmer's Carpenter wood glue.
- o Masking tape: It is necessary to keep a part of the dollhouse together while waiting for the adhesive to dry. It also helps to cover the dollhouse area when drawing.
- o Pencil: For marking to cut and align parts.
- o Hammer: Many dollhouse kits have nails that can be used to make your dollhouse safer.
- o Fine tooth saw: Most parts of the dollhouse kit are ready to be assembled, but some trimming and cutting is required.
- o Utility / X-acto knife: for trimming and cutting. It is especially important when you bake your roof.
- o 100 grit sandpaper: to make the cut edges smoother.
- o Rubber Band: When assembling window frames and other small items, rubber bands are ideal for holding parts together.
- o Turntable: It is not mandatory, but it is worth considering. The turntable makes work, display and playing of your puppet much much easier.
- o High quality semi-luster latex enamel paint: Indeed paintings are one of the biggest jobs to assemble your doll house. When choosing a color, you need to think about the following things.
- o Main exterior color - to be used for siding of all houses. Your most important color. Probably an 8 ounce bottle will suffice
- 1 to 2 external accent colors for doors, window frames, shutters, entrances, balconies, and other outdoor decorations. Make sure they coordinate well with the color of your main appearance. A 2 ounce bottle should be large enough, but if you are using white as an accent color consider consider preparing an 8 ounce bottle. Perhaps I would like to use it in several other places
- o Internal paint color - When planning to decorate the interior of the house you may want to paint the wall instead of wallpaper. You will want to paint the ceiling as well.
- o High quality paint brush: It is necessary to cover large area, small horn, small detail, so some sized paint brush is needed. Make sure the paintbrush is painted on the tree so that the bristles do not fall off frequently.
- o 320 grit sandpaper: Used to apply sand between paints to remove globs and smooth surfaces.
- o Light sparkle: It is not absolutely necessary, but it is convenient. It is used to fill small cracks between doll house parts and holes made of nails.
- o Roof material: The dollhouse kit has rectangular wooden shingles on it. When using different shapes (squares, fish scales, diamonds) or materials (slate, tin, aluminum, tile), please order before you are ready to work on the roof.
- o Single dye: If you are using wooden shingles, you probably want to dye them. Dyes are displayed in reddish brown or gray.
- o Rubber gloves: Prevent dyeing hands when stain shingles.
- o Large cardboard: It was necessary to dry each single after dyeing.
- o 2 gallon plastic milk jugs: used for single dye storage and transport.
- o Liquid Nails: The type of adhesive used to attach the roof to the roof.
- o Utility / X-acto knife: Some shingles must be cut to fit the specific space of the roof.
- o Doll House Wallpaper: Wallpapers are the fastest, usually the most fascinating way to decorate interior walls. It is recommended to purchase the pasted sheets in advance. Wallpapers can be purchased based on an individual pattern or a pre-selected set of designs. Purchasing individual patterns increases diversity and specificity. The shopping set is more economical.
- Paint and brush: Instead of buying wallpaper, you can paint the room. As with the appearance, please use high quality semi-gloss latex enamel paint.
- o Flooring: There are many types of flooring materials that can be used for puppets such as tiles, trees, marble floor patterns, carpets, and rugs. You can change the type of floor in each room (eg, bathroom tile, bedroom carpet etc).
- o Flooring adhesive: We recommend using Liquid Nails (the same adhesive as the wallpaper) to attach wood, marble, tile sheet to the floor. Carpets and rugs can be installed using carpet tapes.
- o Lighting: This is definitely an optional step lighting. Doll house is almost art as such. You need a tap wire, transformer, brass and eyelet, test probe along with the lamp, lantern, scotch or chandelier you plan to use. Probably you will need an electric earring tool.
- o Furniture and accessories: This is one of the most exciting parts to build a doll house! There are literally thousands of choices. Keep in mind the size and budget of your dollhouse. You may be interested in making some of your own items!
