Complying with these rules is the responsibility of the owner.

In order to comply with this fire safety regulation for existing houses with existing two residential units the owner meets certain minimum requirements for fire isolation, escape measures, smoke alarms, and electrical safety There must be.

For each dwelling unit, a smoke counter must be installed on August 13, 1994. The owner needs to maintain a fire alarm in driving condition.

Each house including two accommodations must be inspected at the Ontario Hydroelectric Power Station and all identified risks must be corrected by July 14, 1996.

The requirements for fire separation and escape shall be satisfied by July 14, 1996.

To make existing houses comply with these rules, repair or remodeling that requires permission of the building under the Building Standard Law may be necessary.
