In Northern California in the vast forests and world famous Mass River, the small town of McCloud on the east side of Shasta Mountain is changing. McCloud always has a certain charm. As you enter the historic part of the town, a small house which was part of a company-owned wood factory shrugs and greets you. On the historic main street, buildings apparently built in the same era are shaped in the same way. It was actually discovered when Mother · McCloud abandoned his hand and stopped exploring how the people refurbished the building for decades since they sold the towns and buildings.

In the past, McCloud's historic main street was at home in a common shop once. In the street beside that, new shops are gathered that remind me of part of the history of the town. Visitors can find Brown Dog Gallery and contribute greatly to McCloud's growing art scene. Last summer, Brown Dog, opened by artist Claudia Ellis, introduces several artists from talented local artists and Mendocino artists of the old footstool. Settled in an old post office, this gallery arranges eye-catching artwork, hand-cut doors and furniture, hand-made fabrics.

Old commercial building owned by Mathis family recently opened 11 comfortable and comfortable rooms as McCloud River Mercantile Inn. These separate rooms uniquely redesigned in front of Darling Matisse are not just fun of the tour. At the northern end of the building there is a two person bathtub called Shada Winter Room, a dark tone room. One lucky bather can enjoy the view of Shasta Mountain from Dorman's window while returning to paradise like bubbles.

Merc's second floor opening can enjoy old style gifts such as McCloud Book Gallery, Sugar Pine Candy Shoppe, Chocolate Café, White Mountain Soda Fountain, McCloud River Mercantile, delicious trips and local souvenirs. Art. In July last year, Soda Fountain restarted with a completely new expression including old-fashioned counters with swiveling stools with eight kinds of ice cream sundaes in the summer menu. White Mountain offers breakfast and dinner, and it is open for dessert in the evening. Perhaps the most striking is "Falls Sanda" boasting of apple pie filling, crumbled pierce crust, vanilla ice cream covered with fresh cream. The work of a commercial building has not been completed yet, I am planning an old butcher's bar called "Meet Market" and I am still using rails and meat hooks to shape the atmosphere.

Of course, the change has been in progress for many years. Renovation began in the early 1990's and began when Lee and Marilyn Ogden started returning the former guest house to the Grand McLeod hotel. The original office of Mother McCloud was renovated to McCloud River Inn Bed & Breakfast, and the old Milky Way Café became a gift shop of Milky Way Trading Co.. Heart of the Mountain brings custom made jewelry to McCloud and offers Christmas ornaments and accessories. McCloud's heritage museum proudly shows the relics of the factory history and tells the story of Mother Cliff as it was known when the McCloud River Lumber Company owned the town. The Shasta Sunset Dinner Train has been a long way to traveling through the old Mill Railroad and offering excellent meals and scenery.

The classic admiration for visiting McCloud's downtown is to eat a picnic lunch from a chocolate cafe, head for McCloud Falls and walk a trail between the Lower and Middle Falls. Another great alternative is that McCloud Railway hosts Pumpkin Train, which is one of Saturdays (the most fun autumn outing for children and adults) in October.

McCloud is a jewel of the North and is a real town. The views of the surrounding vast forests, rugged Mount Shasta and its friendly residents are worth visiting 1 or 2 times. Let's consider a trip to McCloud this fall. Begin your relationship with this small town, please feel a lot of charm.
