I live in New York, but I have never been to Washington, DC. But last Sunday, I had a wonderful day in the capital. It was a really wonderful city and there are many scenic spots. And, for everyone who wants to go there, we strongly recommend you to have comfortable shoes. I was actually walking all day, so I got very tired when I got home.
I checked Google Maps before traveling. Many places are quite close so I decided to walk there. I got tired to see as many places as possible in a short time. I got up early that day and ate a simple breakfast. I will arrive in the city by Amtrak and will be back at 8:30 pm. As soon as I arrived I hit a taxi directly to the space museum and National Air. After taking pictures of these impressive buildings, I spent an hour walking towards the parliament. And I caught Tomobil from there to see the Arlington Cemetery. I was also able to visit the White House on the way home.
It was at lunch time, so we ate a pretty dinner at a nice restaurant. There are my favorite rolls, vegetable salad, corn, seasoned potatoes. And I drank coffee at Starbucks and waited for DC Party Shuttle 'Monument' tour at 4:30 pm. It takes 3 hours to depart from the old post office. My tour guide was a lovely girl, she taught me about the history of all the monuments. History seemed interesting as well. And when I returned to New York I decided to buy a history book to provide my historical knowledge. The tour ended at 7:30 pm. And I grabbed a taxi at Union Station and returned the train at 8.30 pm to New York.
I did not have enough time to do a detailed tour of Washington DC, but I was still exciting. These impressive buildings become the symbol of our country and I am surprised when I stand in front of them. And I will make a long tour to the city next time.
