Risk of fireplace in projection screen -2

If there is a fireplace in the room, you have the perfect place for the screen. From the viewpoint of room layout. There is no need to rearrange rooms / seats to accommodate screens.

Two things make the placement of the projection screen near the fire less ideal.

What I am most interested in is smoke. The degree is low, but the fever is also a concern. I will explain about that later.

I had a wooden stove in my house for many years. There is a nice big mirror above it. When we built the extension, the stove was taken out. Mirrors also did. It was a bright place on the wall where the mirror remained. The surroundings were completely discolored.

It will also happen to your projection screen. Especially when using a screen with fire. This, of course, is a gradual process, but over time the projection screen fabric will no longer be white. At that point, the image is no longer the best. However, you can easily solve it by purchasing a new screen. The second problem, fever does not need to be big.

It depends on how close the screen is to the fire. In other words, the strength of heat. In general, the projection screen works well in warmer areas than cold environment. I have seen more than a few screens that seems horrible when coming straight out of storage. They took about 30 minutes and they looked amazing. It is when the fabric is at room temperature.

It is a different story though intense heat. The fabric melts or deforms. This is irreversible and should be avoided.

So how do you know if your projection screen is at risk? Simple and open fireplace in the fireplace.

After about an hour, please hold your hand at the position where your screen fabric is. The cloth is safe if you can grab hands firmly in that position.

Yeah, I know. Although it is not strictly a science, it is an easy way to keep the screen safe.

Let's do our best,

Otto
